『StarryInk Lab Archives』 Vol.2 |6848

Welcome to another chapter of our StarryInk Lab Archives, each entry in this series will introduce one of the thousands custom inks we’ve created over the 9 years — not just as colors, but as intimate translations of personal inspiration. While some of our creations burst with vibrant hues, others speak in quieter tones, carrying deeper meanings beneath their surface. Today, we're exploring 6848 - a sophisticated deep ink that embodies strength through subtlety.

StarryInk Lab Ink-Report

Snow-Buried Branch Ink Swatch

6848 is a deep blue-purple ink with captivating chromatographic properties. On watercolor paper, it leans more purple, displaying a mesmerizing separation of blue-violet and purple-pink tones. When used on tracing paper, it exhibits a pronounced copper sheen. On Tomoe River paper, the base color shifts slightly towards blue, revealing a beautiful chromatography of purple and deep blue hues.

Even with fine nibs, the ink maintains impressive saturation. Upon contact with paper, it transitions from blue-green to blue-purple, reminiscent of a flower blooming in the dark of night. The ink's color transformation creates an ethereal effect, like watching petals unfold under starlight, making each stroke a journey from one shade to another.

Inspiration

Here is the story behind 6848:

是24年1月定制,那段时间对我来说挺黑暗的,工作上压力很大每天加班到凌晨(虽然现在也没好到哪里去╮(︶﹏︶)╭),替领导背锅,身体也各种不舒服,还和朋友闹矛盾了,感觉干啥啥不顺。
I customized this ink in January 2024, which was quite a dark period for me. I was under immense work pressure, staying at the office until midnight (though things aren't much better now ╮(︶﹏︶)╭), taking blame for my supervisor's mistakes, experiencing various health issues, and having conflicts with friends. It felt like nothing was going right.

现在回想起那段时间,还是有一点恐惧,所有我喜欢的我在乎的,都出现了或者发生了问题。 6、8是我的幸运数字,那就幸运加倍一下吧!6✖️8等于48,那就是6848啦。
Looking back at that time still brings some fear - everything I cared about and loved seemed to be having problems simultaneously. 6 and 8 are my lucky numbers, so I decided to double the luck! 6×8=48, which led to 6848.

怕把她闲置,就选了比较方便日常书写的深灰色,不会特别显眼,但又和其他颜色有区别。
Worried about leaving the ink unused, I chose a practical deep grey color for daily writing - not too eye-catching, but still distinct from other colors.

✒️ Disclaimer: The Magic of Ink

Please note that the colors shown in photos may vary slightly depending on lighting, camera settings, screen displays, and editing. More importantly, this ink—like all our creations—is deeply responsive to its environment.

Different types of paper, coating, fiber density, and absorbency will bring out unique aspects of the ink’s color, sheen, and chromatography. The same ink may lean cooler on Tomoe River, warmer on watercolor paper, or reveal hidden undertones on tracing paper. We call this “Color Variance Across Papers” — or as we like to say: one ink, many voices.

We wholeheartedly encourage you to try it on different papers, in different pens, under different skies. Let it surprise you. Let it become part of your story.

We can’t wait to see what colors come alive under your pen!
